Building Update

The new Kitchen and Dining Hall is well on its way toward completion!

WHAT DOES THE BUILDING LOOK LIKE?

The building measures approximately 104' x 52'. There is an attached porch measuring 48'x48'. The building has a steel exterior, with two restrooms, a large dining area, a kitchen compliant with the MN Department of Health code, and a shelter area in the basement. The dining area will have a fireplace area and can be suitable for a small conference area for off-season retreats. The building has air conditioning and heating year round.

REJOICE WITH US!

Phase one of the building included removing many trees, constructing a service road, developing infrastructure, and erecting the outer shell. This came at a cost of $227,000.

Praise the Lord with us as God has graciously supplied this need. The shell of the building was completed in March 2009! The cement flooring was poured in June, and the heating system, interior framing and insulation was finished by October. In November alone, we had 17 individuals finish the drywalling. We began plastering the walls in January. The building was dedicated to the Lord on Memorial Day and we held our first activity in the building at that time. It is currently in use for our summer camps in 2010.

HOW MUCH IS STILL NEEDED?

The final cost for this project is $460,000. This includes bids from all contractors, with the understanding within the bids that they we would be doing all of the work.

We will save many thousands through friends of the camp who will donate their labor (and perhaps some supplies, as well). The final cost includes a 10% cost overrun for the project. As of July 2010, we only have a need of $27,000 to have the building completely paid off.
